How to get Shopify Store URL and Access Token?

To migrate data from or to a Shopify store using Next-Cart, you’ll need two things:

  • Your Store URL
  • An Access Token (generated via the official Next‑Cart Store Migration app)

This guide will walk you through the process step by step:

Generate Access Token

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.
  2. Install the Next-Cart Store Migration app on your Shopify store.
*Note: This app is used to securely generate an Access Token for migration.
  3. Open the app, then click Generate Access Token under Use this app as a Connector.
*Note: If the Migration Dashboard is displayed instead, click Change Usage in the top bar to open the usage selection screen, then choose Use this app as a Connector.
  4. On the Access Token Setup screen, click Generate. Your Access Token will be displayed only once.
  5. Save the Access Token securely, then copy your Store URL and Access Token and paste them into the Next-Cart migration tool.

Important Notes

  • Never share your Access Token with anyone you don’t trust.
  • If you lose the token, or if the token is exposed, simply uninstall and reinstall the app to generate a new one.
  • By default, customer notifications are turned off during the migration. You can also turn off admin notifications in Settings > Notifications > Staff notifications.
  • We recommend disabling any third-party shipping or email apps on your Shopify store, to ensure they do not trigger emails to your customers when orders are imported.
