What is a Custom Job?

Our default migration tool supports the transfer of data that is natively supported by both the Source Cart and the Target Cart. However, many of our customers use third-party extensions to customize their eCommerce websites. Naturally, they want to migrate data from these extensions on the Source Cart, or to these extensions on the Target Cart. Additionally, some customers might not use extensions but want to customize the default data according to their preferences.

To accommodate these needs, we offer an additional service called Migration Customization. When you purchase this service, you will need to select a specific number of Custom Jobs. A Custom Job is a unit we use to price the customization of the migration process according to your specific needs. Each Custom Job is defined as follows:

  • Migrating a set of custom fields for a specific entity type (e.g., products, orders, customers, blog posts). These custom fields may come from extensions. However, if a set of custom fields belongs to multiple extensions, each extension will be considered a separate Custom Job.
  • Updating a set of default fields for a specific entity type without migrating the entities themselves. For example, updating product titles and descriptions, updating different types of product prices, updating product attributes, or updating product images.
  • Customizing a set of default fields for a specific entity type during the migration. For example, removing HTML code and special characters from product descriptions, converting product attributes into product categories, or converting customer tags into customer groups.
  • Filtering entities for migration according to specific criteria. For example, migrating active products, migrating orders from July 4, 2023, or migrating customers who have placed at least one order.

Custom fields refer to data types that are either not natively supported by the Source Cart or the Target Cart, or that fall outside our supported entities. Examples of a set of custom fields include:

  • Product price types that are natively supported by the Source Cart but not natively supported by the Target Cart
  • Product price types added by an extension
  • Product attributes added by an extension
  • Product specifications added by an extension
  • Product images and videos added by an extension

Default fields refer to data types that are natively supported by both the Source Cart and the Target Cart, based on our supported entities. They also include custom fields once your migration tool is customized. Examples of a set of default fields include:

  • Product titles, descriptions, meta titles, meta descriptions, meta keywords, tags
  • Product price types
  • Product attributes
  • Product specifications
  • Product images and galleries

The price for one Custom Job is $50, with a maximum of $200 for Unlimited Custom Jobs. When purchasing the migration tool, you can select the number of Custom Jobs under the Migration Customization option inside the VIP Support Service section. If you are unsure about the number of Custom Jobs you need, you can purchase additional Custom Jobs later at: VIP Support Service.

By understanding how Custom Jobs are defined and priced, you can make informed decisions about customizing your data migration process to best meet your specific needs.
